If you have ever tried to sell some used thing you know that that is hard to do. But if you are in the business of selling used boats it’s one of the hardest things to do regarding sales.
There are a million and one things you have to look out for and even after all hard work the buyer is just not feeling the boat, and there is no one to blame. That is all in a day’s work as a boat broker.
Buying a new boat directly from the dealer is a completely different thing. Essentially you buy a boat that still does not exist. All of the papers get signed, the specific of the equipment is agreed, the deposit is taken and after all that, the production starts.
Usually, when you buy a new boat it takes three to six months for it to be built and delivered. But considering the situation that there is no material to build boats. The whole boat building industry had to reduce the number of boats that they construct.
Demand stayed the same or events went up, but a supply of new boats had shrunk significantly.
That plays a huge role in the used boat market. Boats that were laying on stock just become a hot commodity. It didn’t matter if the boat was old more than five years and in charter had over two thousand hours, as long it floats its good.
Botas that are in good condition and not older than three years are now worth more than they were new.
The market is going crazy. But who knows how long is this going to last.
Orders for new boats are already done for 2023. What after that?
Correction of the market has to come. It is just a matter of time and that the panic will start and only the best will survive.
Good luck!
